Healing your inner child part 2
Part of healing your inner child can be done through writing, as you know (if you have been following me for a while) that I absolutely love journalling. Writing out your feelings, issues or ideas/goals is incredibly therapeutic. The same goes for speaking to the younger version of yourself.
For some people, visualisation of your inner child can be tricky at first. I find a photo of yourself as a kid a bit easier (see video coming up soon). So, as an easy alternative, why not write yourself a letter?
So what could you write?
Well, I would start with going over old childhood memories with your own (adult) perspective, offering insight or explanations for distressing circumstances you didn’t understand back then.
You could tell them in the letter that you’ve now realised that the reason why your brother was horrible to you – was because he too was bullied. Sharing this revelation with your inner child can help soothe some of that lingering pain.
If you feel like you didn’t get enough attention or something was missing throughout your childhood – you can observe these memories from the wisdom of your adult mind and perhaps find pieces of the missing puzzle.
By writing to your inner child, you could also soothe your younger self for the feelings that come up and talk to them about how much you have achieved since you grew up. I find this a lovely process – you can even tell your younger stuff what you do now…if you have kids, where you live, what kind of car you drive and what you have learnt.
Whist you are speaking to your younger self via writing – you could ask questions like; What can I do to support you? What do you need from me?
I really do believe that this type of self-healing can provide great insight and healing for your current self.
I have a mini-course coming out soon on healing your inner child; if you would like to know more or have any questions – just ask.
