What I’m Learning Right Now

Right now I’m midway through a stats unit as part of my psychology studies at uni and let’s just say it’s not love at first sight. It’s slow going full of formulas and friction and while I know it’s all part of the process I’ve had to call in every mindset tool I have to keep inching forward.

But beyond the academic grind I’m finding myself deep in some seriously nourishing learning through podcasts books and honest self-reflection. Here’s a snapshot of what’s shaping me this season.

Mindset: Stats Grit and Showing Up Anyway

The biggest lesson I’m getting from my stats unit isn’t about numbers it’s about discomfort. It’s about showing up for something I don’t love because I know it’s part of something bigger.

Mindset right now is about micro shifts. Instead of forcing joy I’m leaning into curiosity. Some days that means celebrating 20 focused minutes. Other days it’s just not quitting.

This isn’t toxic positivity it’s realism with kindness. It’s knowing that progress looks different in midlife and that’s okay. And I know you get me!

What I’m Listening To

1. How to Improve Your Vitality and Heal from Disease

Podcast: Huberman Lab
Guest: Dr Mark Hyman
Dr Hyman dives into the biology of inflammation the root causes of chronic disease and how food movement and nervous system regulation play a massive role in healing. It’s a reminder that vitality isn’t found in hustle it’s found in balance. A total alignment moment with the work I do around trauma informed health and healing.

2. How to Break Unconscious Patterns The Power of Meditation The Truth About Dopamine and Creating Lasting Change

Podcast: Feel Better Live More
Guest: Dr Joe Dispenza
This one hit differently. Dr Dispenza unpacks how we can rewire unconscious patterns through meditation and awareness. His perspective on dopamine habits and lasting change in midlife is 🔥 especially if you’re craving transformation from the inside out.

What made this episode even more special is that exactly six years ago to the day I attended one of his weeklong retreats. That experience fundamentally shifted how I show up for myself. I still meditate using his teachings and honestly I feel like I understand his work more deeply now than ever. It makes me so happy to see more people discovering what he’s doing. His influence has been a quiet thread through so much of my healing and it’s beautiful to revisit it from a new place.

A Film That Moved Me: The Wisdom of Trauma

Watching Gabor Maté speak to trauma with such compassion cracked something open in me again. It reminded me that so much of what we carry pain habits fatigue isn’t who we are but the result of what we’ve survived.
