Why you won’t do the work, if you don’t invest
Why you won’t do the work if you don’t invest.
- You can also read this title as ‘Why do I need to pay for therapy’?
So many people ask me about the therapy I do, and I often get the ‘that’s too expensive’ comment.
Well, it’s relative, isn’t it? What someone deems as expensive vs another is completely relative. And honestly, there needs to be a price, right?
Some people won’t blink twice at a $999 handbag, but will falter at a $999 therapy package that will shift their life into another paradigm.
Some people are paying 100’s of dollars per week on alcohol and addictive substances (food included) but will tell me their budget doesn’t stretch to committing to weekly sessions with me.
Yes, you can heal yourself by yourself. You can watch all the Youtube videos, read the books and apply the learnings. And it WILL work if you want it enough.
However, what is it costing you to NOT deal with the issues at hand?
Fast forward yourself just 6 months ahead, and you haven’t dealt with it; how does this feel now?
Fast forward again 12 months out, and you have still ignored the issues; how is that feeling?
I could go on, but I don’t want to make you feel worse than you might already.
But you can understand what I am saying, can’t you?
I recently listened to a friend who bought a fantastic outfit for a Christmas party. It was more than she had intended to pay, and said, ‘To get the monies worth, I will HAVE to go to more parties!’
And this is the thing – when we invest in ourselves, we HAVE to do the work!
I have given plenty of free sessions away (when I first started), and one main issue I had with clients was them not even turning up to sessions! It’s a bit like a free gym membership; unless you REALLY WANT it, you don’t do it.
I don’t do that anymore. But I am also kind; I always offer payment plans for people who can’t pay in full.
Investing in yourself takes money and time.
How do I know this?
Because over the last 15 years, I have invested tens of thousands in myself, and I would do it again and pay double.
The shifts in my personality and life are priceless.
From being an unhappy wife/mum in a toxic relationship. Feeling unworthy, lacking self-confidence and in victim mode…I have done the work (yes, it was hard). To feeling such a sense of freedom, I often feel so giddy and excited about the future!
I have the freedom to choose my life. I can do ANYTHING. Yes, quite literally. And this is how I feel most days. The bonus is that I get to help other people to get to this space too.
The power of the mind is monumental. If you really want to achieve something, you will.
Will it be hard? Shit yes.
Will it feel like it’s not worth it? Yes.
Will you question your sanity? Yes.
Will it cost money? Yes.
Will it cost time? Yes.
Will you regret it? No. Never.
You won’t do the work if you don’t invest in yourself – money, time, same, same.
